Long Overdue

Wow, it’s been quite a long time since I last posted here. I have published Free America Part One and Free America Part Two. My friend Steve in Baltimore reminded me that I failed to publish Free America Part Three, and some readers might be interested in my getting the hell on with it. Perhaps I’m taking cues from the author of a certain dragon-and-sword-forged-throne themed series on my timing. Perhaps I should do better. And I will.

For everyone who’s been waiting patiently for Part Three, I’m writing here to give you hope.

Unfortunately, many of the themes explored in Free America that seemed so over-the-top and implausible to so many of my critics when I first began this writing journey seem more like history now than speculative fiction writing about a dystopian near future. I wish things were different, but our reality is what it is. So perhaps Part Three might seem derivative of current political crises. The sad truth is, around 2005 when I began plotting this story out, I saw it all coming like a freight train that lost its brakes on a long, steep mountainside.

Prepare yourself, the conclusion is coming. But it’s not the end.

I’ve been working on multiple manuscripts set in the same story world as Free America. The rest of the world isn’t a dystopian hellscape like New America, but it isn’t immune from the influence of the overpowered insanity that’s happening there either.

Take heart–people will always find a way to win their freedom.
